Riders have already arrived in preparation for the Rolex Kentucky Three- Day Event, a charitable event produced by Kentucky nonprofit Equestrian Events,Inc., which takes place at the Kentucky Horse Park, April 25-28. The Rolex 3-Day Event, first competed in 1978, is presented by Land Rover. It is the Western hemisphere’s only Four Star 3-Day event. The riders will compete for a share of  $250,000 in prize money.
The riders will also have a chance at the the Rolex Grand Slam of  Eventing: The Rolex,  the Mitsubishi Badminton held in Badminton, England (with prizes to be presented by HRH The Duchess of Cornwall) and the Land Rover Burghley in Stamford, England. Any rider who wins all three takes home $350,000 in prize money.
The Rolex features some of the best eventing riders in the world. Many hold Gold Medals from the Olympics or the World Equestrian Games. Riders hail from Australia, Canada, Ecuador, Great Britain, Ireland, New Zealand and the United States. The Rolex is part of the HSBC FEI ClassicsTM. This year’s event will also crown the 16th Rolex/USEF (United States Equestrian Federation) National CCI4 Champion. HSBC, headquartered in London, is one of the largest banking and financial institutions in the world and has supported the FEI (Federation Equestre Internationale) for four years.
If you know little about the event, the Rolex website explains in detail how the scores are awarded to riders who must compete in all three events, dressage, cross-country and jumping, successfully in order to win.http://www.rk3de.org/index.php
