Turning people away at the door, Laura Kirkpatrick’s Fashion Angels Charity Fashion Show was a sold-out success this weekend.
Friends and family of those involved showed up in waves starting hours before the show, filling the lobby of the Lexington Black Box Theater with muffled conversations and the sound of cameras taking snapshots of people on the red carpet.
What these attendees did not see was the madness happening behind the scenes where 120 models, 40 hair and makeup artists, and 15 designers finished up all of the last minute details that needed to get done before the show began.
Models were adorned in tight braids, colorful string and even some blue lipstick to go along with the outfits made with love and passion by local fashion designers.
Every designer in the show had his or her own unique way to show the world their personal style. Without even seeing the designer, viewers could see into his or her heart. When the designer took their final walk with the line, every one of the designers was the final puzzle piece to the collection.
Two solid hours of fashion ended with floods of models, friends and family directly on the runway taking pictures and giving congratulatory hugs. Fashion lovers left with fluttering hearts and fulfilled passions that they may not get as often as they hope in Lexington.
