Day+one+of+Sand+in+the+Citygets+underway+in+Triangle+Park

By Cameron Owens
It’s been nearly ten hours since Damon Farmer, a Woodford County artist and international sand sculptor, began to sculpt the highly anticipated art project at Downtown Lexington’s Triangle Park. The project is presented by the Downtown Lexington Corporation for “Sand in the City,” a temporary public art installation that will be carved from over 20 tons of sand.
With close to 30 unique ideas contributed by the Lexington public, Farmer says the sculpture will be near completion by Sunday just in time for Easter holiday. The public is invited to join Farmer at Triangle Park to watch the creation of the sculpture over the next few days which will remain at Triangle Park  for up to three weeks.
