UK student-athletes honored at 2013 CATSPY Awards

The University of Kentucky honored 18 student-athletes and four teams for their athletic and academic achievements during the 2012-13 school year at the 11th annual CATSPY Awards Monday night in Memorial Coliseum.
UK’s gymnastics and rifle teams were honored as co-Teams of the Year for their accomplishments this year. The gymnastics program posted UK’s highest-ever score at the NCAA Regionals, and the rifle team finished the season as national runner-ups for the second year in a row.
Greg Ferrucci and Cally Macumber were named male and female Athletes of the Year. Ferrucci was a multiple-time SEC Diver of the Week and earned All-SEC second-team honors following the season. Macumber finished sixth in the NCAA Cross Country Nationals, and became the ninth woman in program history to earn All-America honors.
One of the evening’s most prestigious awards was the Mr./Miss Wildcat awards, given to student-athletes for excellence in athletics, academics, character and service. This year’s Mr. Wildcat was track/cross country star Luis Orta, who won the honor for the second year in a row.
