Louisville succeeds UK as National Champions

The Louisville men’s basketball team claimed its third national championship in history Monday night when the Cardinals took down the Michigan Wolverines 82-76 in the title game.
Louisville hoisted the trophy just one year after UK claimed its eighth national championship, keeping the title in the commonwealth of Kentucky for another year. Cardinals’ head coach Rick Pitino has now won two national championships in his career; one at UK and now one at Louisville.
Louisville police reportedly contacted Lexington’s police department for tips on dealing with fans following a championship win. Below are images from UK and Louisville’s respective title celebrations in 2012 and last night.

But even after Louisville usurped the throne over the college basketball world from the Cats, UK fans haven’t changed their stance on the Cards.
