Turning the Tale on A Christmas Carol

A timeless classic is always in the stockings for the Christmas holidays, but a classic with a twist, is something that will give everyone sugarplums dancing in their heads.
The Bluegrass Performing and Visual Arts Association will be performing the final weekend of the musical A Christmas Carol. Whether you fall in to the category of a Mr. Scrooge loyalist or a “been-there-done-that” kind of person, Director of the musical Janelle Gore says that “this type of performance offers new music that was inspired from England, and has only been put on by a couple other theaters across the state.”

Along with new music, Gore plans to implement a few of her new ideas that will create a difference in in the tale inspired by Charles Dickens.
Gore, who just graduated from Asbury University will be making her directing debut right out of college. Along with directing the musical on the story’s 200th Anniversary, she says that this is something that’s not done in Jessamine County that often.
She believes that with her confident attitude, and a fresh take, people will embrace the unique opportunity, to give this musical a chance.
Performances will take place at the McKenna Chapel located at the Asbury Theological Seminary.
