This week, the state of Kentucky is taking time to recognize the power of the written word.
The Kentucky Literacy Celebration (KLC) Week began in 2011 with the intent of focusing on Kentucky’s achievements in literacy as well as highlighting challenges the state still faces. This week (March 5 through March 9) has been set aside for this second annual statewide event. The celebration is a collaboration among several education institutions and Kentucky First Lady Jane Beshear. Beshear will be traveling across the state to visit a number of schools, adult education centers, libraries, communities, and businesses.
Links providing the First Lady’s schedule along with a list of statewide celebration events is available on the “Events” tab at the following site :http://www.kentuckyliteracy.org/celebrate2012
