UK announces football gameday plans

Lexington mayor Jim Gray, UK President Eli Capilouto and UK Athletics Director Mitch Barnhart joined together to announce the “game plan” for UK football game days in a press conference Thursday.
All three stressed that fans need to behave respectfully and courteously toward fellow spectators, including residents in the immediate proximity to Commonwealth Stadium.
“We want fans to come to the game and enjoy themselves,” Gray said in a release. “We just encourage everyone, as they’re walking to and from the game, to respect the homes and yards of the neighbors near the stadium.”
UK announced a few new features to help enhance fans’ experience at football games. Prominent among those is GuestAssist, which enables users to text Commonwealth Stadium staff with questions.
“Whether you need parking information or location of specific stadium services, GuestAssist makes it simple and easy,” UK said on its website.
The new features are part of maximizing the experience of UK’s six home games this season.
“Lexington and UK are well known across the Southeastern Conference and the nation for having classy fans and creating a great atmosphere for major sporting events,” Barnhart said. “Our message to all Wildcats is to please enjoy yourselves to the utmost while remembering to treat your fellow spectators with dignity and also be mindful of others who live in close proximity to the stadium.”
