Every spring the Greek community gets together to make a child’s dreams come true. They will turn up the music and dance in a competition to walk away with a grand prize and the coveted title of champions.
Greek Sing, presented by Chi Omega and Phi Delta Theta, is one of the largest philanthropic events on UK’s campus. Proceeds from this event go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Kentucky.
It takes months of planning and preparation to get all those glittery props and elaborate costumes ready for the stage. Fraternities and sorority’s begin rehearsing months before the show, organizing and choreographing entire chapters. And it’s not an easy task getting hundreds of dancers to move as one. Jars of glitter, cans of paint, and lots of sore feet are all part of the experience. Chi Omega has even been forced to set rules restricting competitors from scheduling too many rehearsals in one week.
But it’s worth all the hard work and dedication when it comes to helping a child with a life-threatening illness.
The event will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 5p.m. in Memorial Coliseum.
