For some, Valentines Day is a day when people recognize their love and compassion for others. Traditionally people will go on dates, send and receive flowers, candy, and the occasional stuffed animal right? But what about those people who chose not to participate in the Valentines Day traditions? What if today, it’s not so much a Valentines Day for you, as it is a “Single-Awareness Day”?
Well, for those people who find themselves single on a day that celebrates relationships, or just plain hate Valentines Day, there might be an outlet for you to release your frustration. Tonight, The University of Kentucky campus community can express their anti-love in a judgment-free environment while venting their displeasure, in the form of poetry.
Those who chose to participate in the event can bring as many poems as they want to the ‘Anti-Love Poetry Slam’ in the Cats Den of the Student Center, beginning at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14. The poems can be any style, any length, and there are absolutely no restrictions.
