The UK Football team travels to Columbia, Missouri this Saturday to take on the Tigers of Missouri. Missouri is coming off a home win versus Vanderbilt this past weekend. The Tigers currently hold a 6-2 record with losses against un-ranked Indiana, and #13 ranked Georgia. The Cats are coming off a home loss to #1 ranked Mississippi State, with a 5-2 record.
Missouri’s offense has looked shaky the last four games. Maty Mauk, the quarterback for the Tigers, has completed less than half of his passes in the last four games. The Missouri offense has been carried by the running game, which posted 244 yards total versus Vanderbilt on Saturday.
UK hasn’t had an answer for a strong run game all season. The Cats are allowing an average of 192 rushing yards a game. Their rushing defense ranks 104th in the NCAA, while the passing defense ranks 34th.
Kentucky’s offense showed strength in the passing game versus Mississippi State with QB Patrick Towles throwing for 401 yards. Towles has thrown the ball for more than 2,000 yards already this season. Kentucky’s run game will have to get off the ground for the Cats to have a chance in this game. The run game is averaging 185 yards per game.
UK has not beat Missouri since Missouri joined the SEC after leaving the Big 12. Even worse, UK has not won an away SEC game since beating Georgia in Athens in 2009.
The game will be televised on SEC Network, with a 4 p.m. kickoff.
