The University of Kentucky Department of Theatre is 100 years old. In 1910, The Stollers’ presentation of “Richelieu” became the first production for the department, which later joined the Department of English. The theatre now has an academic home in the College of Fine Arts. They are currently showing “Gorey Stories,” a work adapted for the stage by UK theatre alumnus Stephen Currens.
The century celebration festivities are scheduled for Saturday, October 16th in the Fine Arts Center. It will include a showing of “Gorey Stories,” round-table discussions, a commemorative play reading of “Richelieu,” and department tours, among other activities.
