UK Softball to dedicate new complex over weekend

The UK softball team, currently ranked No. 18 in the national polls and in the midst of a six-game win streak, will host the No. 3 Florida Gators for a three-game series over the weekend in Lexington. The games will begin at 6 p.m. ET on Friday, 1 p.m. on Saturday and noon on Sunday, and all three will be played in UK’s new softball complex.
Prior to Saturday’s game, the university will hold a UK Softball Complex Grand Opening Ceremony at 11:45 a.m. ET on the main stadium staircase. UK Athletics Director Mitch Barnhart is among those who will speak during the ceremony.
The event is completely open to the public, and those in attendance will receive a commemorative ticket to the game.
All three games this weekend will also include special promotions to help welcome fans to the new facilities. On Friday night fans in attendance will have the opportunity to register to win a Nike+ FuelBand, and in addition to the commemorative tickets on Saturday the first 100 fans will receive a pack of 2013 UK softball trading cards. The entire team will be signing autographs for fans following Saturday and Sunday’s games, and free posters will be available on-site all weekend.
