Two public forums will be held over the next two weeks so the community can discuss the revitalization of UK Dining Services.
The community public forums will be at the University of Kentucky tomorrow April 9 from 5:00-6:30 p.m. in Worsham Theater of the Student Center. The second will be April 18 from 3:30-5:00 p.m. in the UK Athletics Auditorium of the William T. Young Library.
“…These forums are designed to continue the dialogue already taking place, while also allowing everyone involved to ask questions about the process and our commitment to creating an even stronger dining services operation for our students, faculty, staff and visitors,” UK’s executive vice president for finance and administration, Eric N. Monday, said in a UK press release.
The university is currently considering bringing in a third-party business partner to reconstruct campus dining.
According to the press release, the Dining Revitalization Committee, consisting of UK students, faculty and staff, recommended that requests for proposals (RFPs) include certain elements such as continual employment opportunities for current full-time UK Dining employees and employment of student workers, continual partnership with the Kentucky Proud Program to keep produce local and creation of healthier food options.
By 2015 three dining centers across UK’s campus will be de-commissioned because of the changing new residence hall system, the release also said.
