The UK baseball team, ranked No. 7 in the national polls, fell for the third time in a row Sunday to the No. 2 LSU Tigers, completing a sweep at the hands of LSU and cementing UK’s first series loss of the 2013 season.
The Cats were thumped in all three games of the series at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge, LA., beginning with a 11-1 loss Friday night followed by a 9-1 loss Saturday and an 11-4 thrashing on Sunday afternoon to complete the weekend.
UK fell to 22-8 on the year, including a 6-6 record in the difficult SEC. The Cats still have six more SEC series ahead of them on the regular season schedule, as well as rivalry games against Louisville and Western Kentucky.
UK will take the field next on Tuesday, April 9, when it hosts Austin Peay at 6:30 p.m. ET in Lexington’s Cliff Hagan Stadium.
