September is national childhood cancer awareness month and DanceBlue will be holding fundraisers throughout this week, Sept. 19 through the 23 as part of DanceBlue’s annual Blitz week.
The first event took place Monday with the fundraiser “Mellow Mush Monday,” at Mellow Mushroom Pizza, with 15 percent of each ticket going to DanceBlue.
Tuesday night Champs Entertainment Complex will host Skate Night from 5 until 9 p.m. There will be a $5 cover for skate rentals and unlimited skating for the night. Champs will make a donation to the cause for each person who mentions DanceBlue at the door.
Wednesday, students, faculty and staff are encouraged to wear blue and gold to support DanceBlue. Blue to represent Kentucky and gold to represent the Golden Matrix Fund, which supports the Pediatric Oncology Clinic at Kentucky Children’s Hospital.
Blitz week ends on Friday with “Stop the Bop” from 10 a.m. until noon at the Phi Sigma Kappa house.
Also, throughout the week, DanceBlue will have an information table set up outside of White Hall Classroom building for students who want to learn more about how to become involved with DanceBlue.
DanceBlue, now in its sixth year, is UK’s 24 hour dance marathon that benefits the Golden Matrix Fund and the Pediatric Oncology Clinic at the Kentucky Children’s Hospital. Over the past six years DanceBlue has raised more than $2 million for pediatric cancer research and children with cancer.
