In honor of Earth day the University of Kentucky is kicking off several events to educate and serve the community.
Today, there will be a lecture called “Christianity and the Environment.” The lecture will discuss what Jesus has to say about nuclear power. Matthew Sleeth, M.D., author of “Serve God, Save the Planet” and co-editor of “The Green Bible,” will share about his transformation from an ER physician to a healer of the planet. The lecture will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Davis Marksbury Atrium.
Tomorrow, April 14, the UKSSC Lecture Series will feature “2020 Vision: A Path to Sustainability in the Coming Decade.” The “Three Spheres’ approach to sustainability recognizes sustainability needs within the spheres of our ecological, social and economic systems. This event will last from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Davis Marksbury Atrium.
Saturday, April 16, Reforest the Bluegrass will hold the EDBG annual tree planting extravaganza. More than 5,000 trees will be planted by hundreds of Lexington volunteers. The tree planting will be going on from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Veteran’s Park.
